First graders will begin identifying the story elements in fiction stories. Students will select a book they will be reading and recording the Title, Author, Setting, Characters, Problem, and Solution for.
First graders will create digital posters to share the facts they learned about their author while researching.
First graders are beginning an author study on Marc Brown or Mo Willems. This week they will begin learning about the author of their choice on the author websites.
First grade students will select snow facts they learned last week and type them into a computer program called KidPix. Students will then draw a picture on the computer to support their text.
First graders will begin using Nonfiction text in both print and digital formats to gain information on topics. This week, students will complete an I Wonder/I Learned chart as a class on the topic of snow after listening to a nonfiction (informational) text. First graders will also explore facts about snow using World Book, an online encyclopedia.
